Music & fun

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. It was music that led me to graphic design during my freshman year of high school because I saw a 4-color screen-printing press in an art class and thought to myself, “I can make shirts for my band!” To this day, I still have fun with music. I have written and recorded tracks for advertising, and as a hobby, I’ve written, recorded and produced two rock music albums under the name, My Cavernoma.

team collaboration

Musicians are a network of opportunity. Each musician has a unique perspective, so collaborating with fellow musicians stretches you to learn new ideas and styles. When playing in a band each week for church, I’ve been inspired by some great local musicians and professional musicians from Nashville, to write and perform in such a way as to reach an audience. Since my teenage days, I still play guitar and I’ve made some great memories playing in bands and in church worship teams. There’s something about the rhythmic structure of music that brings people together, tapping to the same beat. When people are in one accord, look out— fun is about to take place!

Writing & recording

In my iPhone, I have over 100 song ideas that begin with me either humming a melody, or playing a quick guitar rift. Through the years, I’ve learned to take these simple ideas and form them into full songs with chord structures and lyrics. Recording is it’s own specialty that I will never claim to be the best at, but thanks to free software like Garageband, I’ve played enough to learn how to produce music that rivals professional studios. It takes a lot of patience to transform a song idea into a finished track. From recording every instrument, to adjusting the musical structure or lyrics, to mixing and mastering, I get excited when I hear a song come to life.

Storytelling

I once had a cavernoma in my brain that caused me to have epileptic seizures. A cavernoma is a ruptured blood vessel. Through a series of life-changing events that led my family to a church position in West Virginia, I discovered a nearby neurological center that was able to remove the cavernoma through two brain surgeries. More can be read about the process here. I’ve been free from seizures ever since. As a result, I wanted to make music that inspired people to overcome the hard situations in life. So I’ve written and recorded two albums that I titled, My Cavernoma. The story is one of hope, so is the music. It’s my hobby to make rock music that inspires people. Here are some TikTok videos that I created to tell the story and show the music that’s being released:
